The club's autumn fun race will be taking place over Friday 18th and Friday 25th September. The 18th will be for club members racing in the 11-and-Under category (so born between 2009-2014 inclusive), and the 25th for older members (born 2008 or earlier).

The booking system will be "open as usual" for both sessions, but please only book in for members in the appropriate age group (there will be a reminder on the booking page as well).

While social gatherings of more than six people will be banned in England from the 14th September 2020, the Government has confirmed that organised sports and activities that have been through return to play protocols can continue, as can organised outdoor sports.

People can also continue to use leisure facilities, including Snowsport facilities – groups/sessions within these venues can continue as they are now. People should not go to these venues socially in groups of more than six.

The reason for this is because these we have worked hard to support facilities and clubs to have stringent plans in place to reduce the risk of Covid-19, and because these venues are classed as Covid-secure given the measures they’ve introduced.

The importance of sport and physical activity to people’s physical health and mental wellbeing has also been recognised by the government.

Club training at Bowles is now open again, although (inevitably) there are Covid restrictions.

Friday Nights

The normal 2-hour session, 5:30-7:30, has returned. Numbers are limited to 15 maximum. Cost for the session remains £9.

Tuesday Nights

A second session is now available on Tuesdays, from 6-7. Numbers are limited to 6 maximum. The one-hour session costs a total of £50, split between those taking part.

Booking

A booking system has been set up for both these sessiosn (please contact Nigel if you have not received the emails) to ensure we keep within the restricted numbers.

Booking for each weekly session starts the day after the previous session (ie opens on Saturday for the following Friday, Wednesday for the following Tuesday).

To ensure that everyone who wants to train gets a chance, can we please ask that for the Friday sessions, if you trained the previous week you do not book the following week until the Monday.

Dear Bowles race club members

This morning GB Snowsport and Snowsport England issued the following update below - after the Government's coronavirus briefing yesterday.

As a result Bowles Ski Racing Club is postponing all races and training with immediate effect - this means Friday's fun race will not now take place.

The club will take guidance from the governing bodies and the Government regarding training and racing restarting at a future date.

GB Snowsport Statement

Due to the escalating cases of COVID-19, GB Snowsport along with the Home Nations, will be postponing all races & events up until the 1st May. We will review the situation prior to the 1st May and will communicate any further decisions.

We take the health and welfare of our athletes / members extremely seriously and we would like to thank you for your cooperation during this time.

For further advice, please see the latest Government information and take extra precaution on public transport and in public places, e.g. washing of hands, hand gels, coughing into tissue and disposing of it.

The club fun race will be held on Friday 20th March.
